About Andy Convery
As an avid canoe tripper, playboater and slalom racer, Andy is constantly refining what makes a paddle great to use in different circumstances and different boats. Innovative designs and construction techniques are what keep him excited about making paddles, along with striving to make that perfect paddle.
Andy's various careers over the years seem to have conspired to bring him to the point of starting this company: he studied visual arts, completed a Masters in Fine Arts in sculpture, and has maintained a wood shop for the past fifteen years.
Andy has worked in the outdoor field since 1991, leading expeditions and teaching outdoor education as well as instructing whitewater canoe technique. This spring he will direct the ORCKA Moving Water Instructor course.
His concern for environmental impacts has been a lifelong venture. The dream of taking the Echo Paddles shop off grid came to life in 2006, and now Andy is turning his attention to education and endangered rivers.
