Paddle Making Workshops

Make a canoe paddle with Andy Convery, owner and craftsman of Echo Paddles.

Due to the overwhelming response and success of these workshops, we have added three more for the fall of 2011.  Come out to see the fall colours and work in our off grid, straw bale workshop and make a personalized canoe paddle!

Sign up for a 1 or 2 day workshop to make a solid wood or laminate paddle.

Thank you Andy!  That was one of the best workshops I’ve ever attended.

You’ve given me the confidence to explore woodworking a bit more.

My father was blow-away with the paddle you helped me make.  I’ll probably

be back next year with him.”  Scott, Ottawa

What to bring:

Bring your lunch, your creative ideas for a paddle- solid wood or laminate, some experienced work clothes and your keen interest in turning a block of wood into a beautiful work of art for your craft.  If you have any hand tools- planes, spoke shaves, rasps- that you wish to use then bring those too.

What we provide:

We will provide all the tools and materials you will need to design, build and carve a solid wood or laminate paddle.  You will leave with a paddle that is finish ready along with the necessary information for finishing your paddle.  You will be guided through wood  and design/style choices with the pros and cons of each choice, while learning some of the history and background of each paddle design.

If you are planning on the two day workshop you may wish to stay in the Montebello area:
